Singapore Airport Drinking Fairtrade Coffee
Saturday, 7 April 2012
Here I am at Singapore Airport, with 15 minutes free internet, waiting for my flight to Cambodia. I've just finished a delicious Fairtrade skim latte and a croissant with 'No Trans Fats and No Preservatives'.
Being in a huge international airport, I am reminded of just how truly connected and global our world is. So it feels great to be able to drink a Fairtrade coffee, and know that I am not the only person thinking about people we share this world with. Those who may not be able to dream of sitting in a luxurious carpeted airport awaiting their flight.
So congratulations to Cedele Cafe by The Bakery Depot. After quick look at their website, it is clear they have a commitment not just to Fairtrade, but to organice produce as well. They also have information about catering for those with food allergies and intollerances, which is impressive.
Next time you are travelling - no excuses. Have a quick look around and try and drink Fairtrade, its one of the best ways you can support the countries you are visiting.
And the coffee was yum.

Wandering through Glebe Markets, these unusual necklaces caught my eye. Each is a piece of hand embroidered cloth, framed and then used as a necklace or earrings.
I have a soft spot for embroidery. I remember my grandmother, and then my mother, trying to teach me how to embroider. I loved the idea of it – my grandmother had beautiful hand embroidered pieces that had been handed down through the family. And I thought I would love to make something so beautiful.

‘We hope this makes you feel happy’.
That was the message to me all the way from my lovely friends and their children in The Netherlands. It came on a beautifully wrapped box, full of chocolate goodies – cookies, chocolate covered almonds - chocolate. It certainly did bring a smile to my face, not just because of the lovely message, or the sight of all of that chocolate, but because all the goodies were organic and/or Fairtrade.
